Aunt Martha

Hello!
I have finally caught up with the "Jessica Journey" emails.. now I can catch you all up with the things I have been doing in Las Vegas!!!! I have made a connection with my "Aunt Martha".  She is really my step mom's aunt.. so my great step aunt.. but I call her Aunt Martha. I had met her a few times before moving out here and we kind of "clicked". She worked as a nurse for many years before recently retiring.  When she found out I was moving out here we made a connection and I have been spending some time with her.  I am so thankful to be able to spend time with her and have someone I sort of "know" close by.  I think she has enjoyed it, too. :-)

April 1st- First Friday
First Friday is an art festival that happens in downtown Las Vegas.  It's kind of like a big block party.. several of the older homes are turned into art studios where local and well known artist come and share their work.  There are several different entertainers... from music to dancing to drums.. there is also a lot of food and drink vendors-a very fun atmosphere!! Here are some pictures...

I thought this was a neat picture with the Stratosphere in the background..

Several of the walls along the streets are painted- very cool.

Some of the entertainers.

A panoramic view of one of the side streets with entertainment.
After First Friday we headed to the Japanese restaurant. They served Dim Sum... Which I had never had. It was interesting.  That is one thing I'm trying to do- experience the different cultures and foods.. some I have loved and others I'm glad to have tried- but will never try again.
I have spent two nights at her condo and also met a few different people through her.  We have had some good laughs.  I think she has helped me get out of my comfort zone a bit and try some of those things that you don't know about as a "tourist".  The art festival is something I would have never thought was very interesting, but I tried it and actually really enjoyed it.  We are making memories.... and I am thankful for her.

The next morning- Saturday April 2nd... we went flying-- and well, that's a post in itself... it was AMAZING!!! There will be a lot of pictures to come..
In His name,
Jessica
